As previously reported, One Direction won’t be touring for the group’s fifth record and will go on hiatus in March 2016 so the members can pursue solo endeavors, according to an exclusive report published by The Sun on Aug. 23, 2015.

One Direction is anticipated to perform on TV as well as the Internet to promote the group’s fifth album.

The news about One Direction’s hiatus comes one month after One Direction creator Simon Cowell told The Sun that One Direction is going on hiatus in 2016, following the release of the group’s fifth record.

Many fans were hoping that One Direction would do a world tour in 2016 for the record, but that tour is certainly not going to take place, sources told The Sun.

One Direction’s “On the Road Again” tour is expected to be the highest-grossing tour of 2015.

One Direction’s 2014 “W We Are” world tour, which likewise played to sold out arenas, was the highest-grossing tour of 2014, with sales totaling more than $290 million, based on Billboard.

The source commented on One Direction’s fifth record: “They believe t are at least three smash hit tunes plus they’ve got the lads to stay together for a couple of weeks past the close of the entire year to make the record a massive success. But was a meeting w it was agreed t could not be any tour for the record. That was a large call as it means come March, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall is going to be free agents for the first time in five years.”

Although the members of One Direction denied over the years they were going solo, the history of all mega-successful boy bands shows that within five years of the group releasing its first record, at least one initial member of the group quits and goes solo.
