TEDDY Geiger has walked the red carpet for the first time since revealing her gender transition last year.

The singer-songwriter, 29, attended the 2018 BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Geiger was honoured at the ceremony for her co-writing on Shawn Mendes’ hits Mercy and T’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.

Last October Geiger confirmed to a fan on Instagram that she was transitioning into a woman after they questioned why she looked different.

“Okay because u asked nicely I am transitioning,” Geiger explained.

“I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process. I feel like the next step is to tell all y’all. So goes. Love it or hate this is who I have been for a looooong time.”

Since then Geiger has shared frequent updates on her transition to Instagram, revealing in November she had begun hormone therapy.

The singer has also said she would like to be referred to using female pronouns but will keep her first name Teddy.

Geiger is most famous for her 2006 hit For You I Will, but in recent years has turned to songwriting for the likes of Maroon 5 and Shaun Mendez.
