Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson said on Thursday that the allegations of insensitivity toward injured players that forced his departure as Indiana football coach are untrue.
In his first public comments since his abrupt exit from IU on Dec. 1, Wilson cited the improvement the Hoosiers made under him and the vetting that Ohio State did before hiring him.
On the day Wilson was let go, Indiana athletic director Fred Glass was vague about the situation, referring to the firing as a “Separation.”
After highly successful tenures as offensive coordinator at Miami University, Northwestern and Oklahoma, Wilson took over a moribund program at Indiana in 2012.
“We had a great deal of academic success,” Wilson said.
“At the same time, you move on. You wish those guys well because they were your guys. It was great times. It was great for our family. But now we’re and you’re blessed to be at one of the great programs with great players and great leadership.”
