We look back and what happened against Indiana and look ahead to Brigham Young.

Offensive struggles: Despite gaining 438 yards, very little appeared to be in sync for Michigan State’s offense in Saturday night’s 24-21 overtime loss to Indiana.

Players struggled to know w to line up or when to be on the field.

Quarterback Taysom Hill went 11-for-21 for 248 yards and averages 223.4 passing yards per game.

The Cougars allowed 505 passing yards and five TDs to Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside on Friday night, and the Rockets had 692 yards of total offense.

Quarterback concern: Starting senior Tyler O’Connor was 21-for-35 for 263 yards with three TDs and no interceptions, but he also took two critical sacks in overtime, fumbled and struggled to make throws.

Youth movement: Justin Layne became the seventh true freshman to play this season, a concerted effort by MSU to get more young players on the field.

Last chance: BYU is the Spartans’ final nonconference opponent – essentially the coaching staff’s last opportunity to determine on what they want to hinge their future this season.

Seven conference games follow the first-ever meeting with the Cougars, including home games against Big Ten East leaders Michigan and Ohio State and a trip to resurgent Maryland.
