When Katy Perry was kissed and groped with a female fan on stage while performing in Rio de Janeiro, the pithy headlines readily composed themselves.
Time ran with the same play on one of Perry’s most well-known tunes, “Katy Perry Kissed by Girl at Concert, Did Not Appear to Like It.”.
A young woman, allegedly named Rayane, was invited on stage and continued to very much intrude on Perry’s space, kissing and touching the “Fireworks” vocalist all over her luminous-caped body several times, including her breasts.
Despite Perry’s clear unease in the video, she ends her exchange with the grabby fanatic having a pat on her butt-and the buff reacts which a much stronger grab at Perry’s.
Most of the coverage was focused on complimenting Perry’s composure and, at most, mocking the devotee’s behavior.
As an outcome, few eyebrows are raised when a female lover cops a short feel-and in turn, we expect Perry to manage this contact with aplomb and good cheer, whatever the suffering and unwantedness.
If a male devotee had been the one groping and throwing himself on Perry few of us would have now been laughing, and that I highly doubt the tone of the posts could have been so light.
Perry has been praised for her comportment, but would audiences have already been so charitable if she expressed her discomfort and we had heard her roar?
