A MAN with a “Fixation” on a female Burnley police officer told one of her colleague that she looked like Hollywood actress Kate Winslet and he loved her.

Blackburn magistrates heard Boota Singh had previously been made subject to a restraining order after he showered the officer with flowers and chocolates and waited for her outside the police station.

Singh, 39, of Cog Lane, Burnley, pleaded guilty to attempting to breach a restraining order by making comments to an officer about PC Carla Strang.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said Singh had been made subject to a restraining order for stalking PC Strang.

The latest comments had been made to a male officer who was dealing with an incident of juvenile nuisance.

He was approached by Singh who said PC Strang looked like Oscar-winning star of the movie Titanic Kate Winslet.

“He was being usd away from the incident involving the youths when he asked the officer to tell PC Strang that he loved her.”

Speaking after the hearing, Lancashire Police Federation treasurer Tony Bradley said: “Any harassment or violence towards officers should be dealt with consistently through the criminal justice system to secure a successful outcome so our officers feel safe to do their job.”
