Hard to believe, yes, but it’s been 20 years since we last heard and appreciated the talents of HIL ST SOUL through their dome albumSoul Organic’. Hilary in particular, who still uses the Hil St Soul brand, is still in high demand, most recently as Brian Power’s collaborator on his Soulhouse musical event. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Soul Organic”, Dome releases the album with this new twisted vinyl trick. Together, they developed a wonderful vision of the contemporary soul that did what was rare in a British soul album of the time: winning the hearts and souls of American music lovers. Already in 1999 Hil St Soul was a duo – Hilary Mwelwa and Victor Redwood Sawyer. I suppose, however, that Vic and Hil still aspire to the magic they created in Soul Organic. The album will be a double LP with a foldable cover and contains three tracks that were not released at the time of the original release and are now available. Since 1999, Hilary and Victor have been working on projects of all kinds and are much more successful. The single “Strictly A Vibe Thang” was a hit, while the recording of the duo “Until You Come Back To Me” became the most played track on American jazz radio. The recording only takes a few minutes and gives you more options.
