Fans have been speculating about it for the last few weeks, but it looks like George Michael’s funeral could finally take place today.
The Careless Whispers star will be laid to rest at Highgate Cemetery in north London, in a plot next to his beloved mum Lesley.
While the funeral service will be a private one for close friends and family of the star, fans have been gathering to see if they can get one last glimpse of their idol before he is buried.
A sign has been put up at Highgate asking visitors to keep noise to a minimum and to refrain from taking personal photos while a funeral takes place today.
While t’s been no confirmation that the funeral is George’s, witnesses have noticed the plot next to Lesley’s has been cleared.
It comes at a particularly poignant time of the year given that Mothering Sunday takes place in less than two weeks – something the family may well have considered when they were planning their final tribute to George.
She’d reportedly been given the funeral details on Thursday and had to beg staff in Heathrow’s First Class lounge to remove her luggage from the plane.
It comes as George’s lover Fadi Fawaz claimed the bereaved family have reached out to him to mend their relationship in the days before the funeral.
