Actor Gaten Matarazzo is known for his on-screen charm and unbearably cool performance as Dustin in Netflix’s Stranger Things, but he also wants everyone to know that he was born with a genetic condition called cleidocranial dysplasia.
Gaten wants people to know about his condition so t’s more awareness of the super rare disease.
Gaten has been candid about his condition before, but during his recent appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show, Gaten opened up even more about what exactly cleidocranial dysplasia is and how it affects him.
Cleidocranial dysplasia is a rare condition that Gaten has previously said you literally have a one in a million chance of having.
Gaten said he has a pretty mild case of cleidocranial dysplasia.
Even though the condition is rare, Gaten said it’s critical that more people are aware of the condition so the people who have it know it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
“I feel like putting it into the show is really raising awareness for it. I want to raise awareness of it and let people know it’s not something they should be afraid of showing.”
In an interview with People, Gaten said his appearing on Stranger Things and being open about his condition has gotten positive feedback and helped others with cleidocranial dysplasia.
Gaten is doing great work to help people feel comfortable in their own skin.
