This is the most diverse lineup in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” John Sykes, president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, told Pitchfork. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees for 2021 have been announced. Asked if these new awards would prevent their inclusion in the future, Sykes said: “It’s important to note that these special commission awards give the artist exactly the same honor as the performer. This is the first year that three female artists have been included in the performing artist category. The Rock Hall 2021 ceremony will take place on October 30, 2021 at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. LL Cool J and Kraftwerk have been nominated for Rock Hall multiple times. Outside of the artist category, several iconic performers have been honored by Rock Hall. Blige, Kate Bush, Devo, Iron Maiden, Chaka Khan, Fela Kuti, the New York Dolls and Dionne Warwick were nominated this year but not included. JAY-Z and the Foo Fighters were included after being nominated in their first year of eligibility. Tina Turner, the Go-Go’s, Todd Rundgren and Carole King are also on the list. Turner and King are the only women after Stevie Nicks to be included multiple times.
