Emma Roberts agreed to return to the American Horror Story fold for a very special reason.
The 26-year-old actress has been a mainstay of AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy’s recurring stable of stars, having appeared in two previous American Horror Stories and top-lined his quirky dark comedy Scream Queens.
As Murphy revealed at a recent American Horror Story Q&A in Los Angeles, it was her bond with the writer that convinced Emma to make a one-episode cameo in the new Cult season.
“The funny thing about this group of people that we have on the show, they really are like a family, and I’ve created that within my company,” Murphy told reporters.
“Like, you know, people move from show to show.”Emma was on American Horror Story, and then, she went to Scream Queens, and now she’s back on American Horror Story.
Murphy also hinted that certain other American Horror Story favourites from past seasons always have an invitation to return, either as a one-off or in a recurring capacity.
“Kathy Bates went off to do Chuck [Lorre]’s show [Disjointed]. She’ll come back one day. Wants to come back.”It’s just a very fluid way of working to have a group of people that you love that you can bring back and forth.
Emma Roberts isn’t the only familiar face we’ll see in the Cult season.
