“Lose Yourself”, written by Eminem and included in the soundtrack of the film Eight Mile 2002, is one of the best known songs of the rapper. “Spotify didn’t charge eight miles and didn’t pay eight miles for these flows,” says the lawsuit. According to the complaint, Spotify did not meet the MMA’s 8-mile non-payment requirements. Eminem is one of the most performed artists on Spotify, but according to Hollywood Reporter documents, Spotify is not licensed to play Eminem music. Eight miles also referred to the Music Modernization Act, a federal law passed last October. The law is intended to guarantee artists and composers remuneration for digital broadcasts.
