On Sunday, Sept. 27, country singer Eddie Montgomery declared that his son, Hunter, had expired at 19.

While Montgomery said that his son died within an injury, the singer’s ex wife, Tracy Nunan, now says that Hunter died of an overdose.

“Our son died of an overdose,” said Nunan in a Facebook post seized by Entertainment Tonight.

“Grieving the loss of a young child is the most heart-wrenching experience any parent would ever guess. It defies description. Because the media will not respect our request for solitude, I’m taking another route in hope that individuals might acquire some peace for our grieving, and more significant, in hope that Hunter’s narrative might help others.”

Hunter Montgomery lately had a son, Bennett Reece, with former fiancee Davara Little.

“Hunter gave me the best gift a person can give to your woman and no matter what happened to Hunter and I and where our relationship was going, I’ll forever be grateful for the sweet boy we’ve together,” read Little’s Facebook post.
