On Saturday night’s episode of “Oprah: W Are They Now?”, former child star Danny Pintauro shown that he’s been residing using a large secret for more than a decade: He’s HIV positive.
Everyone remembers the young, blonde-haired Pintauro as Jonathan on the family situation comedy “Who’s the Boss?” For eight years, Pintauro played with the son of a powered single mother, winning audiences over with his nerdy charm.
“It Is merely a big deal, you know? It’s not something that people are really talking about right now,” Pintauro says.
His former “Who’s the Boss?” co star, Judith Light, motivated Pintauro to participate as a means of commanding the dialog.
Pintauro says he consistently underwent regular HIV testing every six months.
“Having come from a two-year relationship, Pintauro admits later in the interview he were looking to explore more sexually and started using crystal meth as a way to that end.”I was doing crystal meth, which totally destroys your immune system.
Even though antiretroviral drugs had been introduced by the time Pintatuo was diagnosed, dramatically increasing the lifespan of those with HIV and reducing their risk of transmitting the disease to others, Pintauro was still devastated by his diagnosis.
Today, Pintauro resides with his husband, Wil Tabares, in Vegas, and works as a restaurant manager.
