Clemson proved all the doubters wrong Monday night and head coach Dabo Swinney had a special message for one media member.

He said they “Left no doubt” during the game and he called out Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd, who called Clemson “a fraud.”

“The guy that called us a fraud, ask Alabama if we’re a fraud. Was the name Colin Cowherd? I never met him, don’t know him. Ask Alabama if we’re a fraud. Ask Ohio State if we’re a fraud. Ask Oklahoma if we’re a fraud. The only fraud is that guy, ’cause he didn’t do his homework. I hope y’all print that,” Swinney said.

Cowherd responded to Swinney on his show “The Herd” on Tuesday praising the job Swinney and Clemson did in the National Championship game, noting the last two games they played were two of their best.

Clemson rallies to stun Alabama and win National Championship.

“All I can say to Dabo Swinney, you’re a hell of a coach, you made college football better, you gave me four and half hours, game was a tad long, but four and a half hours of great entertainment and your players showed such great character in crucial moments I couldn’t be happier for Clemson,” Cowherd said.

“Clemson’s a fraud. Clemson is going to get their ears boxed by whoever they play. They should have three losses, maybe four. I don’t buy into Clemson, they’re the New York Giants of college football. I don’t care what their record is, I don’t buy into them,” Cowherd said.

“And I had Clemson in the final four, so I should be rooting for ’em. I got no dog in the fight . I think USC is the second-best team in the country and Vegas agrees.”

Cowherd’s comments apparently served as bulletin-board material for Clemson.
