Actor Brooke McCarter passed away on Tuesday at the age of 52 after years of battling a rare genetic liver disorder.

The actor’s family broke the news on his Facebook page, writing; ‘The McCarter family is heartbroken to share the news that Brooke McCarter passed away December 22, 2015 from the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

Brooke’s Lost Boys co-star Corey Feldman also expressed his sadness over the loss on Twitter.

Iconic: Brooke starred in the beloved 1980’s film The Lost Boys, which is about a gang of vampires.

More recently, Brooke starred in the Herschell Gordon Lewis-directed horror comedy, The Uh-Oh Show.Brooke also had a role in the horror film The Emerging Past Directors Cut, which is now in post-production.

Early start: After starting off in modelling, which saw him land ad campaigns for JC Penney and Levi’s, Brooke, pictured in 1987 in Beverly Hills, set his sights on Hollywood.
