A representative from Australia Zoo has DENIED an explosive report that Bindi Irwin is being recruited by the Church of Scientology.

Speaking with Daily Mail Australia on Monday, the rep stated: ‘The Irwin family does not have any interest in associating with the Church of Scientology.

It follows claims that were widely reported in the media last week that the controversial religion was looking to target the 19-year-old environmentalist.

New Idea published quotes from an initial report: ‘The National Enquirer spoke to former Scientology Celebrity Centre operative Steven Mango, who said: ‘I can tell you with certainty that Scientology wants Bindi Irwin as their next celebrity poster child and recruiter”.

Another Scientology source is said to have added: ‘You couldn’t ask for a better poster girl for recruitment than the beautiful daughter of a lost and beloved national figure.

New Idea’s article also included quotes from a source close to the Irwin family, ‘confirming that these outrageous claims are absurd.

Steven Mango has previously spoken negatively about Scientology on several occasions.

The religion is known for its high-profile celebrity members, which includes Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

In the past, Bindi has remained tight-lipped about her religious beliefs.
