Jay Z, Solange, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams along with other loved ones observed Beyonce’s 34th birthday Friday with a playlist of songs representing their “Most cherished moments” with all the vocalist.
The post, which likewise contains reflections from Beyonce’s parents and daughter, Blue Ivy, was posted Friday at her website.
The post features poignant selections from Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, that show the singer’s diverse tastes.
Beyonce’s parents both draw from the singer’s early days.
“I used to sing this song for you when you’re in your mother’s tummy,” her dad says of Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “Here I Go Again.” “After you were born, you’d stop crying instantly once I sang it to you, as well as your eyes would light up.” Her mom remembers how Stephanie Mills’ “Home” represents the determination of a youthful Beyonce: “One of both our favourite tunes,” she reflects.
“I remember you singing in the Peoples’ Workshop when you were just nine years old. You brought down the house and got a standing ovation and all. You wound up backwards and did a spin, and – in what would become ‘True Beyonce Fashion’ – you made it part of your act. The show must always go on!”.
The brief clip, titled “Happy B Day,” features footage from your couple’s “On the Run” tour, with Beyonce performing and prepping for shows.
