Two Ashley Madison clients are reported to have taken their lives published their details according to police in Canada.
The force held a news conference about their investigation to the website hack at Toronto Police Headquarters.
Ashley Madison’s Canadian parent company Avid Life Media is offering a C$500,000 reward for information about the hackers.
Addressing the hackers, called The Impact Team, Mr Evans said, “Team Impact [sic], I do want to create it really clear to you your actions are prohibited and we shall not be bearing them. This is your wake up call.”
Police are advising victims of the hack to review their accounts.
He also explained the hack had already generated a series of “Spin offs of offenses and additional victimisation”.
The unfolding of the hack was also in-depth in the conference – from the instant on 12 July when several Avid Life Media employees logged in to their computers and were confronted by means of a message in the hackers.
“This hack is one of the biggest data infractions on earth and is extremely unique on its own in that it exposed tens of millions of people’s individual advice,” he added.
Authorities have set up @a Twitter account, @AMCaseTPS, and hashtag, #AMCaseTPS, in a bid to collect information about the hack from members of the general public.
