This is a new position that has earned Jay-Z much criticism for associating with a league he had previously criticized for calling former quarterback Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, but it turns out that this is only the beginning if Jay becomes a terribly powerful person in the NFL. It’s not the first time, of course, that Hov has been part of a team of decision-makers, since he co-owned the Brooklyn systems until he decided to sell his shares in 2013. Jay-Z became an important part of the NFL ecosystem this week when Roc Nation partnered with the League to make Hov their strategist for live musical entertainment. Sources associated with Jay and direct knowledge tell us Jay will have a “significant interest” in an NFL team. We will let you know which Jay-Z team will add to its group of owners when this information becomes available. He also seems free to acquire a stake in a team, because if he founded Roc Nation, he is not involved in the management of NFL players by the company.
