Tonight Alejandro G Iñárritu’s brutal, beautiful survival drama The Revenant received its UK premiere in London’s Leicester Square.

Based on a true story, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as 19th-century fur trapper and frontiersman Hugh Glass.

The film has crushed its competition this awards season, today picking up 12 Oscar nominations – among them nods for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor – to add to the three Golden Globes it has already won.

His Revenant co-star Domhnall Gleeson, who stars in the film as Captain Andrew Henry, has also been linked to multiple Oscar-nominated films.

As well as starring in The Revenant, Gleeson has had key parts in Ex Machina, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Brooklyn.

Asked if the famously gruelling Revenant shoot meant that the film was the most challenging of the bunch, he said this wasn’t neccessarily the case.
