The Texas Longhorns jumped out to a two-touchdown lead and went on to beat the Iowa State Cyclones 17-7 on Thursday night in Ames, Iowa.

Texas rebounded from its narrow loss to USC, holding the Cyclones in check for most of the night.

Texas’ DeShon Elliott had two interceptions, and Kris Boyd added a third.

Ames was a house of horrors for the Longhorns two years ago, when Iowa State blanked Charlie Strong’s team 24-0.

This year, Texas returned for its Big 12 opener with new coach Tom Herman.

Before the game Thursday, Iowa State debuted a secondary logo that features the cyclone.
