On Friday, a Rogue One panel gatd together director Gareth Edwards and the film’s stars-including Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and more.
Fans can rest easy knowing that the new movie does feature a droid: K-2SO. “K-2SO was originally an Imperial droid, but the rebellion re-programmed him. Diego Luna, who plays Cassian Andor, said K-2SO is his character’s best-if not only-friend. The droid is 7’1” and black with a human-like form-and he appears to contain a similar rebellious streak to R2-D2. Tudyk, who has already shown off a knack for imparting robotic characters with a strong dose of humanity, will play the droid.
As Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen explained their characters, Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus, a spoiler might have slipped out toward the end.
Although Wen initially kept things vague in discussing Baze, he might have let a huge spoiler slip about his and Chirrut’s fate.
“My character is a person of interest,” he said, adding, “He’s a scientist, and he at one point invented something so beautiful, so fantastic, that it might change the universe.”
Well, it’s a good thing we’ve got a few months to speculate about what that might be.
