Nothing seemed to go right for Spartans in Wisconsin’s 30-6 thumping at Spartan Stadium.

Michigan State RB LJ Scott runs the ball against the Wisconsin Badgers during first half action Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing.

LJ Scott’s fumble that Wisconsin returned for a TD changed the momentum in the game.

Despite playing without Riley Bullough, the Spartans managed to hold Wisconsin’s rushing attack to 122 yards and limited its offense to 317 yards.

Two of Wisconsin’s three offensive TDs came after MSU coughed the ball up and set up short field.

Punter Jake Hartbarger muffed a snap that set up Wisconsin with short field on one TD drive.

As much as MSU dominated Notre Dame for three quarters, Wisconsin controlled the Big Ten opener on both sides of the ball.

O’Connor’s shaky play will shorten his leash as coaches need to determine whether the 500-yard effort against Notre Dame or the 325-yard sputtering against Wisconsin is the norm for this team.
