Harlon Barnett said he became Michigan State’s secondary coach because he speaks “Sabanism.” He played for MSU in the 1980s when Nick Saban was an MSU assistant.

Chris Oats of Cincinnati Winton Woods is a Plan A recruit for coach Mark Dantonio and the staff.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder already holds a Spartan scholarship offer.

“I’ve been t, like, three times and I have a really good relationship with coach Dantonio and coach Barnett. I like the defense they run; it is the same defense my team runs. I love the way they coach.”

“I haven’t checked out any schools lately,” he said.

“Recruiting is still the same, at seven offers, but I have been talking to Vanderbilt a lot. I expect to go see Ohio State play Oklahoma, Nebraska, Michigan State and Michigan.”

Led by Barnett, a Cincinnati native, Michigan State has had a lot success recruiting the Queen City through the years, luring players such as Greg Jones, Marcus Rush and Donovan Clark.

You can be sure Oats will be invited to multiple MSU games this season.
