Artem says Marcia Brady’s alter ego tore two muscles around her spine and is also fighting arthritis.
Despite Maureen’s immense amount of pain, she’s “Muscling through it.”
“She doesn’t really want to take a break. She wants to keep doing it over, and over, and over again,” the 34-year-old tells Wetpaint of their practice for Week 4.
“I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who wants to be on the show more than her.”
Although the Russian-born dancer has been competing for years, he’s never seen behavior like “Determined” Maureen’s.
“It’s quite surprising because normally when people have an injury like that they just don’t want to move,” he explains.
“It says a lot of who she is as a person. She never gives up and she wants to move forward.”
