Break out the congrats: Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander and supermodel girlfriend Kate Upton are engaged.
The pair’s nuptials were confirmed when Upton showed off a ring Tuesday at the 2016 Met Gala in New York, E! News reported.
“I’m really excited. He asked me right before season started, so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while,” Upton was quoted as telling the media outlet.
News of the celebrity couple’s wedding bells immediately sparked well-wishing online Tuesday night.
Upton and Verlander’s bond has been in the spotlight for other reasons recently.
During the final week of Tigers spring camp, they sponsored an event at Marchant Stadium in Florida promoting dog adoption and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Detroit News reported.
They’ve attended public events together, including in Metro Detroit, between duties in their respective careers.
Upton, 23, a St. Joseph, Michigan native, has graced the covers of Vogue and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
