Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again has weaved magic at the box office once more.

The fourth film in the successful franchise, it raked in Rs 33 crore on the first day itself.

According to Box Office India, the film could have had an opening of more than Rs 45 crore had it been a solo release.

Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar, which released on Thursday, could manage only Rs 4.75 crore and Rs 9 crore on first and second days, totalling to Rs 13 crore.

While critics praised Aamir’s film for its emotional portrayal of a young singer’s journey, the audience has clearly chose to watch Ajay’s horror-comedy.

Golmaal Again opened to largely unimpressed reviews.

“Rohit has tried his best to entice you adding elements of horror, melodrama, revenge and even a storyline but that takes an hour to build up,” read the Hindustan Times review.
