If, upon seeing Larry David’s Bernie Sanders impersonation on Saturday Night Live this past season, your immediate thought was that you’ve been missing David’s particular brand of ornery comedy, ’s some news you may appreciate: HBO has just announced that Curb Your Enthusiasm is returning for a ninth season.

The announcement comes a full five years after the comedy – the longest-running show in the history of HBO – wrapped its eighth season in 2011.

In 2014, he told a crowd at Carolines comedy club in New York that he wasn’t sure if his “Ideas are gonna be good enough for a whole season.” In 2015, he told Howard Stern that “The odds are stacked against” a return, though he wasn’t “Ruling it out.”

Now HBO has confirmed that David is actually, for real, in for another season.

With at least five years between seasons eight and nine – HBO has not yet announced a target premiere date for the latter – David will have plenty of stories to draw from, not to mention his newfound fame as a premier Sanders impersonator.

All eight seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm are available to stream on HBO Go..
