As Gossip Cop previously reported, this is the first time Barnett has been the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” While maybe not a household name yet, Barnett was nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys.

Just one day before her appearance on “SNL,” Barnett’s version of the Grateful Dead’s “New Speedway Boogie” was included in a tribute album to the legendary band called Day Of The Dead. The video for “Pedestrian At Best” features Barnett as a down-and-out clown.

At a local fair, we see her having trouble juggling and making animals out of balloons.

Later, while riding a bumper car, Barnett in full clown makeup gets hit by several other people on the track before they rob her of all her money.

Even the guy selling hot dogs at the fair throws one at her after he loads it up with mustard.

All depressed, Barnett then rides a merry-go-round, w she’s joined by another sad clown, played by her real-life girlfriend, musician Jen Cloher.
