A previously unreleased Aaliyah song will feature on Timbaland’s King Stays King, a 16-track mixtape that the producer is releasing online for free on Christmas Day.

It will also contain songs featuring Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Mila J and Blaze, according to OnSmash.

Timbaland teased unreleased Aaliyah music in August, when he posted a photo of the singer on Instagram and wrote, “People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven’t heard!!!!! Well, the answer is yes!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL!!!!! Sneak peek coming!!!!!!!”.

The news comes nearly two years after Drake and Noah “40” Shebib halted production on an album’s worth of previously unreleased Aaliyah recordings.

Drake had announced his intention to make the LP in 2012 and put out a song called “Enough Said,” which found his and the late singer’s voices side by side.

Aaliyah’s family distanced themselves from the project and Timbaland and Missy Elliott both said they would not assist in its production, which was to come out via a record label run by the singer’s uncle and cousin.

“I was naïve to the politics surrounding Aaliyah’s legacy and a bit ignorant to Timbaland’s relationship and everybody else involved and how they’d feel,” Shebib told Vibe in 2014.

I Care 4 U, a compilation containing previously unreleased Aaliyah music, alongside some of her hits, came out in 2002, one year after she died.
