Defensive tackle Travis Tuiloma saw his most extensive action of the season, playing the bulk of the plays after being limited in previous games.

Senator Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, was honored at the end of the first quarter for his work helping BYU purchase Y Mountain from the federal government.

Hatch led a four-year legislative effort in Congress to help BYU secure the property.

President Kevin Worthen, Vice President of Advancement Matthew Richardson and Athletic Director Tom Holmoe recognized Hatch in an on-field presentation at the Cougars’ Homecoming game.

BYU owned the lower 40 acres of Y Mountain, below the painted Y on the mountain.

“When I was a student at BYU, I remember hiking up the mountain with buckets of water, lime and salt to whitewash the Y,” Hatch said in a news release.
