Mexican soap star Eduardo Yanez slapped a reporter in the face during a Hollywood red carpet interview held on Tuesday.
Yanez appeared to lose his temper after the journalist, named Paco Fuentes, asked him about his relationship with his estranged son Eduardo Jr. The pair have a strained relationship and his son recently alleged he was a “Drug addict, racist [who] abuses women.”
On the red carpet in Los Angeles, Fuentes told the actor that his son had to set up a GoFundMe account to pay for car repairs.
Replying, Yanez said: “If you’re so worried about my son send him the money, or you go and talk to him.”
Fuentes then told him: “Just remember that the press is the link between.”
According to TMZ, Fuentes has since filed a police report with the LAPD, claiming assault and batery.
Yanez later offered an apology on Twitter, writing: “I want to ask for a sincere apology to the public and to the person affected by my action. It was not right. My private life is not for sale.”
